Dubuque, Iowa
summer
A shutter on a camera blinks so fast / a deer disappears into woods
white puffy clouds easy to capture / a June moon: not so much
looks like a flashlight under the covers / the bodies in between—wear denim cut offs
the chess players at the next table / drinking a flight of beer
dancing in the tiny kitchen camper / dancing by the fire to Lord Huron
mosquitos avoid the campfire smoke /a whisper of fall wind / flashes over bare shoulders
like changing our mind
