AMISH-MADE WET BOTTOM SHOO FLY PIE

         for Michael Garrigan

Any circumference

can ring

with a fastening song

that grows

from the sugar,

from the intention

to use the sugar

in the old ways.

You don’t have

to understand the physics

to understand

that some trays

can carry the divide

between us

& the heavens

& some some some

can brings us tongue

to tin to belief

with only one piece

of the puzzle, one piece

of the right pie.
